I’ve got two new pieces to drop off. These images are the first to come out of the new workflow, and the Bombay Saphire piece was the first from Capture One 6.2 which was released just this morning. (Note that the Saphire shot was a way bigger deal than the Absolut shot.) I’m trying to get back into documenting my setups, but I got rusty. Also, I really just wanted to take pictures of my new Sinar. It will get better, I promise. I can’t leave a post without some geek info: I’m moving all of my lenses to Sinar boards and I need to get a Sinar-to-Cambo board adapter from S.K. Grimes! That probably deserves a post on its own. Sooooo, I’m about to have a bunch of Cambo lens boards for sale if anyone is interested. After an entire quarter studying and shooting outside of the studio, it is totally awesome to be back. More in the works, stay tuned, and thanks a bunch for all the support!

Love the lighting and the smoke.

Matthew,
great setup and result. How do you like your Sinar X?
I was jumping between sinar P2 and cambo Ultima, and.. landed with Ultima eventually.
Will see how it will work for me:-)
Did you ever use a sliding beck? I see you shoot via live view, do you like it? I was convinced to use sliding back..
Alex
Hey Alex – I love the Sinar p-style cameras, and the X is very nice, mostly for the modularity. But I also really like the Ultima and I still have mine. The gearing on the Ultima is smoother and a bit finer, actually, especially on the focus movements. Also, the centered swing/tilt is nice…on the Sinars these movements are off center, not a huge issue though. I’m sure you will be right at home with your Ultima, it is one of the best production technical cameras in my opinion.
I have used a sliding back before, but after getting used to live view, I can’t go back haha. For one thing, the sliders can become worn and lose the focal plane, but if you do your final critical focus in live view I guess that isn’t really a problem. Which sliding adapter did you choose? Let me know how you like it. Thanks for stopping by, I really dig your blog.

Matthew,
I’ve bought Phase One Flex Adapter. Still waiting for it to be delivered though…
Thank you:-)
